Why we make everything on 6th Avenue
Forty years at one address, and what that means for the piece you are buying.

Malidani has held the corner at 1200 6th Avenue since 1986. It is the first store you see at the entrance to 47th Street, and it has been the same family the whole time, three generations of it. Being in one place for that long shapes a business in ways that are worth explaining, because they are the reason a piece from here is different from a piece bought online.
The first is that we make things here. Casting, setting, sizing, polishing and repair all happen on the premises. The person who sets your stone is a few steps from the counter and will usually come out to say hello. When a ring needs sizing or a prong needs attention in ten years, it comes back to the people who made it, not to a returns department.
The second is that we buy stones in person. 47th Street is the largest diamond market in the country and we have been trading on it for three generations. Every stone in our case was chosen by us, looked at under a loupe and by the window, from a dealer we have known for years. That is why our prices are what they are and why we can show you three stones side by side rather than one.
The third is that we are not going anywhere. A guarantee is only as good as the store still being open to honor it. Cleaning, inspection and resizing are complimentary for life on anything we make, and lifetime here means the store's lifetime, which is now forty years and counting.
Come in and look. There is no appointment needed, and there is always a chair.
